I took my flatmate to the gym and then went with him to improv. It was interesting!
A couple of days ago I saw an ad for this intro to weights session at the gym, and figured it would be ideal to give my flatmate a little nudge in the direction of free weights (he already runs and is quite fit but wants to look a bit leaner and so on). He did really well and I think the group training session followed by copying my routine took the edge off the I am in a gym but what the hell is going on thing. I think. Aaand I picked up quite a few things to help me with my own form! Anyway, I definitely have a workout buddy once a week now for this class and possibly all the time if he ends up joining the gym for half a year. Wooo!
Then I went along to improv things. Somehow, I’m not sure but I went from “I’m just going to sit here and watch!” to “oh so I talk into this mic?” and I found myself filling in for someone on the university radio improv show. That was an interesting and terrifying experience. I like improv but I am NOT GOOD AT IT. Too self aware or not self aware enough I don’t know but I’ll try another couple of workshops because it was rather fun anyway!
I feel like a boss.
Also I am exhausted.
Exam went kinda crappy.
At least I got some revision done outside in the gorgeous weather we’re having.

Took out my frustrations on another leg day at the gym. Finally ventured into the scary squat rack to do what I can only assume to be some extremely under-par squats with the actual bar.
Then came home, had a shower and promptly crashed out for two hours. One more day to go and then I can have a day off, definitely going down the the lake on campus to laze around and squeeee! at the baby geese.
Well it was good but my thighs are made of pain.
Yay! I am kinda tired now though…
I’ve made a lot of progress. Over the weekend I was too tired to manage much apart from slumping in front of screens nursing my mouth ulcers and chemo burns. I definitely had more severe side effects this time round (if you discount how I got in the second round where my counts were totally knocked out after I picked up a cough). Mouth’s going to take a while to heal up and in the mean time it hurts to eat, I talk funny and everything tastes of metal. Woooo!
However, 3 days ago I started out at the gym. The first day I managed about 5 lengths with a lot of resting between each one. The next day I took my time over it but managed 24 lengths. Then today I put my gym kit on and did 20 minutes on the cross trainer, stretches and a lot of time doing light weights, followed by a few more lengths in the pool. I spent almost 4 hours there! My diet is also working well and I’m not finding it as hard going as I did initially. Going to try a beginners pilates class on Friday, and apart from a few twinges from my neulasta injection (blood booster, bones don’t like being forced to make extra white blood…) everything is pretty awesome right now! Made more awesome by Pride coming up on Saturday and my friend’s birthday on Sunday where I’ll see a lot of very lovely friends I haven’t seen for ages :)
